Poetential Pitfalls With Running Candle Company
Just keeping up with all the new scents and discontinued scents is a job in itself.
Running your own candle website company can be fun, profitable, and yes, very tough at times. There are problems with any business, and that is true for a candle website business. Below I will describe some poetential pitfalls with running a candle company online.
Some problems will be minute, but others may create a huge issue with running your candle business online. One thing that seems to happen to me quite a bit is running out of the candle scent needed for a particular candle order. Just keeping up with all the new scents and discontinued scents is a job in itself. Discontinued candle scents were a big problem for me.
When you get an order for a specific candle scent, that is the candle scent the customer wants. If you cannot provide it, then you have a problem on your hands. When this happens to you, you will have to come up with some sort of way to satisfy your customer without sending them the candle they ordered. Just one idea, and one I used often, was to refund the customers money on any candles I could not make.
I would also send a free candle as sort of an inconvienence gift. I did this on more than one occasion and never had any complaints from any customers. So, make sure you keep on top of available candle scents and candle containers carried by your suppliers. This may seem like small potatoes to some of you, but if this keeps happenning to you as a candle website owner, you may become discouraged if you are not prepared for this inconvenience.
If you're using a service like paypal for your credit card processing, then you would have to create new links for the new candle scents.
Another poetential pitfall with running a candle website business is with the containers. From time to time, some containers may become dropped by your main candle supplier. This is almost as bad as the candle scents if you are offering a large number of containers to your customers. There were several occasions where I ran low on a certain type of candle container and when I went to re-order the containers I found out that they had been discontinued!
This creates another small hassle to a single person owned candle company. There is a lot involved here because you would then have to update your website to reflect the containers offered to your customers.
