Sometimes running your own candle company online can be tough and de-motivating.

If you are running your own candle website based business, you know it is not always fun and games.  Sometimes running your own candle company online can be tough and de-motivating.  There are a number of things that seem to go wrong and no matter how much you thought you prepared, you'll run into a problem sooner or later.  That being said, every problem will not be a major problem, but something minor and not even worth mentioning. 

One thing that seems to happen to me quite a bit is running out of the candle scent needed for a particular candle order.  When you are stocking 100 or more candle scents and offering all of them from your candle website, you will find keeping up with all the candle scents on hand, as well as the candle scents being discontinued and added is a pain.  On more than one occassion, I have had orders placed for candles, and then found out I was currently out of the candle scent ordered.

Normally, that would not be that big of a deal, I would simply go pick up the candle scent required to make the order.  However, there have been two occassions where I went to pick up the candle scent and then found out it was no longer available.  The candle scent that was requested and purchased by the customer was discontinued!  This creates a problem from a small business owners perspective.  You cannot fulfill the candle order at this point, and must try to make the customer happy if possible.

My solution for this dilemma was to refund the money spent on the candle or candles ordered for the discontinued candle scent, and then added a free candle to the customers' order as well.  Now, this was not a perfect situation for me as an online candle business owner, but it was the best I could do at the time.

Therefore, discontinued candle scents, as well as discontinued candle containers, was probably the single most irritating part of running my own candle business online.  This may seem like small potatoes to some of you, but if this keeps happenning to you as a candle website owner, you may become discouraged if you are not prepared for this inconvenience.
